You’ve probably noticed by now that almost every article on weight loss, health and fitness often talk about drinking more water. We’d hate to sound like a broken record but water is vital for your health. In fact, our bodies are made up of about 60% water. Not to mention, your brain and heart are about 73% water, your lungs are about 83% water, your skin contains 64% water, your muscles and kidneys are about 79% water, and even your bones are 31% watery!
Is your drinking water safe? Do you often catch yourself asking that? Safe drinking water is something we often take for granted, until a crisis like the Sungai Kim Kim water pollution in March 2019, makes us wonder what chemicals could be lurking in our pipes and taps. Around 6,000 people were affected by the water pollution where students from schools in the Pasir Gudang area began complaining of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, which led to the temporary closure of the schools in the area. While it is worth noting that Sungai Kim Kim is now rehabilitated, you should still remain vigilant about the contaminants that might be in your pipes, faucets, or local water supply.

One of the latest fads in town is arguably alkaline water due to its impressive health claims, but how true are all its assertions? Generally, alkaline water is any water with a pH greater than 7. One of the most pressing dangers in our drinking water is pharmaceutical drug residues due to its small molecular size (which enables it to penetrate our bodies), potency (a small dose has a big impact) and ability to bypass modern wastewater and water treatment plants as well as most water filtration systems. More than 100 […]
Many people are aware of the need of vitamins and minerals for good health. Although the use of pesticides has greatly increased our food harvest, residues routinely end up on and inside the food we eat daily. While some have dismissed the low exposure as inconsequential, independent scientists are proving that incredibly tiny doses could cause health problems that will only manifest decades later. Here are 6 alarming diseases […]
